Javier Campano

Madrid, 1950
Javier Campano is a self-taught photographer who starts his professional career in 1975. His early years are closely related to Photocentro school and to Nueva Lente Magazine as well, both reflection and germ at the same time of the new wave of photographers that emerged in the vital city that Madrid was at that time.
Through his photographs, Campano offers his intimate vision of the cities he has visited in his trips as well as the many trips that he has made in a single city: Madrid.
Throughout his career he has received several commissions that have become reference works within his production, such as the photographs for the rationalist architecture exhibition at IVAM (1998) or the five books devoted to portuguese cities published by Prosegur (1997-2001).
In 2004 the Reina Sofía National Museum (MNCARS) held his retrospective Hotel Mediodía exhibition.
