He trained at the School of Fine Arts in the city of his birth. After his first exhibition in 1980 his fame began to spread. Since then he has lived and worked in countries such as Germany, Belgium, England and France. He has worked as a teacher at the National School of Fine Arts in Paris. His works have been featured in exhibitions in various galleries and museums in Europe, the United States and Japan. In parallel with his sculpture projects, he has also produced works on paper, drawings, and collages. A significant part of his career has been dedicated to creating sculpture for public spaces, and his work can be seen in cities throughout the world. Some of his most brilliant creations include "The Crown Fountain" in Chicago's Millennium Park, and the project "Breathing" for the BBC in London. Among other distinctions, in 2012 he won the National Plastic Arts Award.
He has collaborated with the Galeria Carles Taché by lending his work Cantique (1996) for the exhibition Tribute to catalan contamporary art.
