José Manuel Broto was awarded the Premio Nacional de Artes Plásticas in 1995. Settled in Paris for more than 15 years, his work has evolved towards a purer abstraction, built from diffused shapes that evolve in a universe of color closely tied to traditional American painting. He is one of the most important Spanish painters on an international scale.
